Organizing my office

Printer-friendly version

My sweet husband bought me an office armoir on craigslist for $20.00.  This armoir has served many purposes over the years. An office, baby armoir for diapers etc, daughters closet, and NOW my office once again.  I let out a sigh of relief.  I have missed my office armoir.  It is like a little piece of organization heaven to me.  I know I am a nerd with OCD but I own it.

Tonight while giving our baby boy his bath, my husband walks into our bedroom and moves around furniture and puts my office back to where it once was :O)  I am currently typing this little note in my room with such satisfaction.  You see I think it is important to have a little piece of the house all to my self.  It's not that I am selfish, it's a matter of sanity.  If I try to use my husbands office then there is a power struggle.  I am a neat freak and he is a paper stacker.  DOES NOT WORK FOR ME!  Plus my husband does not deserve a nagging wife. You know what the bible says about that, so I usually just sit in bed with my laptop and type away.  The problem is that I have so many reference materials that I access on a daily basis I had no where to store them.  Well, not anymore. They are in a nice Magazine holder in my armoir.

One thing I do when I get a magazine is rip out any useful information and put it into a binder.  This allows me to recycle the magazine and only keep one or two pages in my house.  I urge you to use a system like this.  It will clear out your bookcases, filling cabinents etc. and you will have what you need on hand.  I think it is also a good practice to go through your reference materials and purge it as well.  Some things may be out of date and you really don't need it anymore.  I am really big on purging our house on a regular basis.  I just don't like clutter.  If we are not using it there is someone who would like it is my philosophy.  So we sell it on craigslist or give it away to friends first then onto freecycle if none of our friends need it.  I hate clutter so much that my husband has converted all of our dvds to digital and stored them on our Apple TV.  The cool result is that we can now give away all of our DVD's to an orphange in Mexico!  Wow, they are going to be so excited to get them :O)  We of course also have our music on Itunes, but I am not sure where to ship the cd's to?  If you have any suggestions, let me know :O)

Well, time to do some paint touch up on the armoir and finish setting up the office.  Have a great night everyone.  Enjoy cleaning up your office.

Blessings,

Chella
