Tator Tot Casserole

2 pounds Lean ground beef

1 bag Tator Tots

1 can Cream of Celery Soup

1 can Cream of mushroom, potato or chicken soup

Milk

Salt

Pepper

Garlic Powder

Onion Powder

Seasoning salt

This recipe came about when I was a teenager and needed to make dinner. So YES it is simple and NO it is not healthy and YES it is ugly and YES everyone loves it.

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350- 375 which ever you prefer

Spray a 9x13 pan with cooking spray and set aside until needed.

Brown the hamburger in a skillet and season to taste.  Drain any fat from beef and set aside.  In a bowl combine soups, and 1 can of milk. Now add your meat to the bowl with the soups. Stir to combine.  Pour meat mixture into the 9x13 pan.  Level out the mixture so it is even.  Now here comes the time consuming part.  Take the tator tots and line your cassreole with them on top of the meat mixture.  ** I let the kids do this part**  Ok now that the tots are on top we sprinkle them with seasoning salt.  Place the casserole in the pre heated oven and bake until your tots are golden brown. This could be anywhere between 35 minutes to up to an hour depending on what you set your oven to.

FREEZER MEAL

You could either do all the steps above and instead of baking, wrap up the casserole and place into the freezer.  To bake, take out the night before and let it thaw in the fridge, bake 350 for about an hour.

OR

You can make up the meat mixture, cool and place into a freezer bag, staple to the Tot bag.  To bake, take the meat mixture out of the freezer and thaw over night in the fride, assemble the cassrole as directed above.  Enjoy!

 

Variations:

Use manwhich instead of soups, layer tots and sprinkle with cheese

Use bbq sauce
