French Onion Melt Sandwich Recipe
serves 2

4 slices of your preferred bread (I used French bread, because, it’s a French onion sandwich after all)
1/2 Walla Walla sweet onion thinly sliced
1 tablespoon olive oil
shredded gruyere, about 1 cup, loosely packed
1 tablespoon butter
pepper

Over medium-low heat, heat up the olive oil. When hot, add the onions and turn the heat down to low. Cook slowly, until transparent and cooked, but not mushy.
Butter the bread on one side. Lay out the bread, butter side out and top with a generous amount of shredded gruyere. Top the gruyere with the onions, season with pepper and close the sandwiches.
Place the sandwiches in a pan over medium heat and grill until golden brown. Enjoy hot!

** Tip from Chella

To make a lot of these amazing sandwiches at once, here is a tip I found on Pinterest. Sorry no link

Prepare your grilled cheese sandwiches as usual (buttered on both sides) Put sandwiches between two baking sheets. Bake 350° for 15-20 minutes.
