9 Ways To Start a Fire Without Matches

There is a primal link between man and fire. Every man should know how to start one. A manly man knows how to start one without matches. It’s an essential survival skill. You never know when you’ll find yourself in a situation where you’ll need a fire, but you don’t have matches. Maybe your single engine plane goes down while you’re flying over the Alaskan wilderness, like the kid in Hatchet.

How to tie Knots

Welcome to Scouting Knots

These animated knots are described for scouts, but most of them have critical uses in other environments. Select the knots from: the index above left; the pictures above; or the Scouting Requirements page which provides details of the knots expected for advancement and different activities.

The wonderful Crystal Light container

I often ask my friends if they have any Crystal Light containers I can have.  I love this magical container.  I reuse them in numerous ways.

Sight words.  Write down your children's sight words on craft sticks and put into this container.  Makes a fun game.

Plastic cutlery for when camping, 72-hour kit, and Emergency Prep. (need stuff for the kiddos to do)

Store your kids crayons, markers, coloring pencils for when you take a road trip or camping.

This is just a snipit of what you can do with Crystal Light containers.

Rocket Straws

The other day I was browsing Pinterest for a fun activity to do with our LM.   I hit the jackpot when I found this post on how to make Rocket Straws.

To start, seal an empty envelope, then draw lines as shown. Invite your child to cut along the lines (or help him with this step, if necessary). The corner of the envelope will form the top of the rocket.
