Cut List
Here's the best way to clean cast iron: Scrub it with coarse salt and a soft sponge. The salt, a natural abrasive, absorbs oil and lifts away bits of food while preserving the pan's seasoning. Rinse away salt and wipe dry.
I came across this great idea to Make Your Own Febreeze over at Homemade Mamas, and I just had to give it a try to see if it's as good as the real thing.
Well, it is as good as the real thing. No. Actually....It's Better!
I changed their recipe up a bit to Refill my already existing 32 oz Febreeze Spray Bottle:
Fill the pan with warm water, add a fresh dryer sheet to the bottom of the pan, and let soak for 15 minutes. Wash and rinse thoroughly. Alternatively, fill the pan with hot water, add a handful of baking soda, and soak for the same amount of time. Scrub with the abrasive side of a scrubber sponge, rinse, and then wash.
